VP of Philanthropy Jared Wesolek ‘Excited, Motivated’ to lead 26th Annual Crawfish Boil

On April 25, the Alpha Pi Chapter of FarmHouse at Troy University will continue one of the fraternities’ main and long-standing traditions. In just over a month, FarmHouse will host their 26th annual Crawfish Boil on Sorority Hill.

For reference, the Crawfish Boil is FarmHouse’s major philanthropy every year. Ever since its inception in 1998, all ticket sales and profit from Crawfish Boil have been contributed to the Leukemia & Lymphoma Society of Alabama. Last year, the chapter raised a record amount for the society, making it the top fundraising school group in the state of Alabama for the Leukemia & Lymphoma Society.

This year, the money raised from Crawfish Boil will support a different cause for the first time in chapter history. Instead of the Leukemia and Lymphoma Society, FarmHouse will support the American Foundation for Suicide Prevention (AFSP).

“I want to support AFSP in honor of Matthew Awbrey, not only because he was my little and one of my best friends, but because our brothers are only a small percentage of the people who have lost someone to suicide,” said Jared Wesolek, FarmHouse’s Vice President of Philanthropy. “Supporting AFSP to try and prevent people from feeling the pain Matthew felt and the pain that his loved ones felt is the least that FarmHouse can do.”

While Crawfish Boil is still over six weeks away, Wesolek, Assistant Vice Presidents of Philanthropy Charlie McCullough and Garrett McKeon, and the entire brotherhood have eagerly begun preparations for the annual event.

"Being over crawfish boil this year truly means the world to me. “Seeing it happen last year for the first time was amazing, and it ignited a fire inside me and made my passion for FarmHouse bigger than ever,” Wesolek said. "I can’t wait to spend these next few weeks preparing to continue our long-standing tradition with the help of my assistants and all the rest of my brothers and create another successful crawfish boil."

Towards April 25, tickets to Crawfish Boil will be sold by brothers, and donations can be made to future CrowdChange pages. If you or someone you know is in charge of charitable giving at a company, see our sponsorship packages.
